Wolverine Oilfield Technologies Presents New RSS Technology at Gibson Reports Virtual Event

Wolverine Oilfield Technologies presented its new 4¾-in and 6¾-in push-the-bit rotary steerable systems (RSS) at the Gibson Reports virtual event, “Push It, Point It, Rotate It.” The event brought together oilfield service companies, operators, and technical specialists to discuss rotary steerable technology and directional drilling requirements.

Iain Cook, President of North and South America Operations at Frontier International, presented the systems and discussed the operating challenges they were designed to address. The presentation focused on the use of continuously rotating push-the-bit technology to support complex well trajectories and more precise well placement.

Wolverine had completed field trials of the new RSS technology in the United States and Russia during 2020. Those trials formed part of the company’s qualification and commercialization program for the 4¾-in and 6¾-in systems.

At the time of the event, Wolverine planned to commercialize the new RSS technology during 2021. The development program was intended to provide operators with additional options for directional and horizontal drilling where trajectory control, wellbore quality, and drilling efficiency are central to project performance.
