NewTech Services Middle East Completes 175-Hour Shoe-to-Shoe MWD Run in Gas Well
ARABIAN PENINSULA — April 2026 —
NewTech Services Middle East completed a 175-hour continuous shoe-to-shoe run with a 5⅞-in rotary measurement-while-drilling (MWD) bottom-hole assembly in a gas well in the Arabian Peninsula. The system drilled 1,492 ft, from 14,242 ft to 15,734 ft measured depth, through anhydrite, carbonate, sandstone, and siltstone while maintaining continuous survey and gamma-ray data delivery.
The interval was planned as an extended run of more than 130 hours and presented an elevated risk of tight-hole conditions, stuck pipe, low rate of penetration, and shock and vibration at formation transitions. Pre-job engineering therefore focused on tool endurance, BHA stability, data continuity, and reducing stationary exposure during surveying.
The BHA was designed to minimize vibration and avoid critical rotary speeds. The MWD tools were programmed for the expected run duration and downhole conditions, while zero-hour primary and backup strings were mobilized. The field team also followed a defined bit roadmap, applied active shock-and-vibration mitigation across transition zones, and reduced survey time where possible.

According to the project data, the 175-hour interval was the longest continuous shoe-to-shoe run among the relevant offset gas wells. Maintaining data acquisition throughout the interval required not only MWD tool endurance, but also disciplined vibration management and coordinated execution across the engineering and field teams.
The run demonstrated the value of treating MWD reliability as part of the overall well-delivery system. By maintaining tool survivability and data continuity through an extended multi-lithology interval, NewTech Services Middle East reduced the operational exposure associated with an additional trip or an interrupted logging sequence.
